braunetic (“we”) provides the app braunetic family (“app”) and the service that belongs to it. These terms apply to the use of the app by consumers. The app is obtained through Apple's App Store; in addition, Apple's standard terms for App Store apps apply, unless provided otherwise here.

Single point of contact under Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act) for authorities of the Member States, the European Commission, the European Board for Digital Services and for users: info@braunetic.de. We communicate there in German and English. How to report unlawful contents is set out in section 5.

2. What the app is

The app helps a family organise its everyday life: appointments and rides, tasks and lists, messages, meal planning, a recipe catalogue, and, if wanted, events from external calendars. A family's data is visible only to its signed-in members. The app does not replace professional advice and makes no promises about contents that members enter or fetch from external calendars.

3. Account, family, roles

  • Signing in is done with “Sign in with Apple”. You need an Apple Account; Apple's terms and age limits apply to it.
  • Whoever sets up a family is its owner. The owner creates profiles, invites people, removes them, can transfer ownership to another adult with app access and can delete the family. A family always has exactly one owner.
  • Adults with app access plan and write. Children see the shared contents, can suggest meals, complete their own tasks and create lists of their own. Profiles without an account of their own are maintained by the owner.
  • A family has at most 10 people, the owner included – adults, children and profiles without an account count equally. Whoever is removed frees up their place. Individual places are not sold; there is no larger plan.
  • An account belongs to at most one family. A profile is linked to at most one account. The same account can be signed in on several devices.
  • You are responsible for your account and your device. Share invitation links only with people who belong to your family; an invitation is valid for seven days and once.

4. Children

Profiles for children are created by a parent. Whether a child uses the app on a device of its own is decided by the owner through the invitation; the owner bears the responsibility for this as the person with parental responsibility. Children cannot take out a subscription and cannot add external calendars.

5. Members' contents and external calendars

  • What members enter in the app (appointments, lists, tasks, messages, meal planning, profile pictures) remains theirs. You grant us the right to store these contents, transfer them and show them to the members of your family, insofar as the app requires this. We do not ask for any further rights.
  • Contents are private within the family; there is no publication and no exchange between families.
  • If an adult shares the family calendar through a secret link for other calendar apps, any person with this link can read the titles, times and places of the family appointments. The family decides to whom it gives the link; it can withdraw it at any time and, as long as it has access, replace it.
  • If an adult adds an external calendar through a calendar link, they thereby confirm that they may share this calendar with the whole family and hold the rights to its contents for this purpose, or that the provider has released them. The events are only read and shown to all members, including children; the original calendar is not changed. The provider of an external calendar is responsible for its accuracy, currency and contents; we give no warranty for them. Any adult of the family can remove it at any time.
  • Unlawful contents are not permitted, in particular those that infringe the rights of third parties, as well as insults, threats or harassment towards members – not through an external calendar either. The family's owner can remove people and delete contents; in the event of violations, we can suspend accounts or remove contents and, where necessary, inform the authorities.
  • Reporting unlawful contents: anyone who considers a content in the app unlawful can report it to us by e-mail to info@braunetic.de, also without an account; in the app, Family › Help & Tips › “Report a Problem or Content” opens an e-mail to this address. There is no reporting form. The report should contain: a description of the content and where it can be found in the app (for example the area, the date and who entered it), an explanation of why it is unlawful, your name and e-mail address if you wish, and a statement that you believe in good faith that your details are accurate and complete. We confirm receipt of the report and tell you our decision.
  • Upload profile photos only if you are entitled to do so; for photos of other people, in particular of children, you need their consent or that of the people with parental responsibility. Enter the name of a person outside the family, for example for a ride, only if they agree or it is otherwise permitted.

6. Recipe catalogue and third-party contents

The recipe catalogue contains recipes from the Wikibooks cookbooks and images from Wikimedia Commons under the licence CC BY-SA (source and licence are named in the app). These contents belong to their authors; you may use them within the scope of the licence. We give no warranty for the accuracy, quantities and tolerability of recipes. Weather data comes from Apple (WeatherKit) and is shown without warranty. Section 5 applies to external calendars.

7. Subscription

  • What the subscription is: The full range of functions of the app requires that access exists for the family – the free trial, a running subscription or free access granted by us. A subscription applies to one family with up to 10 people (section 3) and all its members. Invited members and children pay nothing; individual places are not sold.
  • Who takes it out: Any adult of the family with app access, through their Apple Account, also during the trial. One Apple Account can hold the subscription for exactly one family. If the family already has a running subscription, the app does not offer a second one.
  • Periods and price: There is a monthly subscription and a yearly subscription. The app shows the price for your country before the purchase as the App Store states it, including statutory VAT.
  • Free trial: A newly set-up family can use the app free of charge with the full range of functions for 14 days from when it is set up. No purchase and no subscription are needed for this; we receive no payment data. The trial ends by itself after 14 days: nothing is charged, you do not need to cancel anything, and it does not turn into a subscription. The app shows the end date to all members under Family › Subscription. The trial exists once per family and once per account that sets up a family; if the same account later sets up another family, there is no new one. Families that already existed before publication do not receive a trial (section 9). After the trial, “When access ends” applies.
  • Subscribing during the trial: If an adult takes out the subscription during the trial, the paid period begins immediately with the purchase; the remaining days of the trial are neither credited nor refunded. There is no additional free trial offer in the App Store.
  • Renewal: The subscription renews automatically for the chosen period at the price shown at that time, until it is cancelled. The trial does not renew.
  • Cancellation: You cancel in the settings of your Apple Account (in the app: Family › Subscription › Manage or Cancel), at any time to the end of the current period, at least one day before. We cannot end your subscription for you: the purchase runs through Apple. You do not need to cancel the trial.
  • Payment and refund: Apple handles the payment; we receive no payment data. You request refunds from Apple. Nothing is paid for the trial.
  • Payment problems: If Apple cannot charge a renewal, the family keeps full access for up to 16 days while Apple retries the payment; the app points this out to the paying person. After that, “When access ends” applies.
  • Price changes: If the price of a running subscription changes, Apple informs you beforehand; insofar as the law or Apple requires your consent, the subscription expires at the old price without it.
  • When access ends: If the trial, the subscription or the free access ends, everything is kept and remains readable. Creating new things and changing existing ones is only possible again with access. Among other things, these always remain possible: deleting entries, inviting and removing people, handing over ownership, changing the profile picture, deleting the account or the family, the data export, withdrawing a calendar link, removing external calendars, taking out a subscription or restoring purchases, the help and these texts. What someone may see and do continues to depend on their role and on the visibility of lists (section 3); the end of access does not extend any rights. No data is deleted because of an ended trial or an ended subscription.
  • Subscription and account: The subscription belongs to the Apple Account that took it out, not to the family's owner. Whoever leaves the family, deletes their account or whose family is deleted has not thereby cancelled their subscription: it continues at Apple until it is cancelled there. The app points this out before deleting.
  • Taking a subscription to another family: A subscription applies to the family for which it was taken out – also after the paying person has left it – until it ends or the paying person takes it to another family. If they have left the family or it was deleted, they can assign the subscription in a new family via “Restore Purchases”. The app explains beforehand what changes and requires a confirmation; the previous family then becomes read-only. A subscription never unlocks two families at once; a switch is not a cancellation.
  • Restore Purchases: On a new device, you sign in with the same Apple Account and choose “Restore Purchases” in the app under Family › Subscription.
  • Free access: Independently of the trial, we can grant individual families free access with or without an end date. There is no entitlement to it. After its end, nothing is charged; “When access ends” applies.
  • Family Sharing: The subscription is not shared through Apple's Family Sharing. Who belongs to the family in the app is determined by the family in the app.

8. Availability and changes

  • We strive for constant availability but do not owe it. Maintenance, disruptions at the hosting provider, at Apple or at the provider of an external calendar, and force majeure can restrict the service temporarily.
  • We develop the app further and can change or discontinue functions where this is reasonable for you. We give notice of material changes and of a discontinuation of the service with a reasonable period in the app or by e-mail, so that you can back up your data beforehand.
  • The app contains no advertising and no further in-app purchases besides the subscription.

9. Test versions (TestFlight)

Pre-release versions through Apple's TestFlight are test versions: they can contain errors, functions can change until publication, and test access can end at any time. Apple's TestFlight terms additionally apply to test versions. Families of the pre-release version receive free access under section 7 instead of the trial at the launch of the published version; its length is communicated to them at least 14 days in advance. Data from a test version is carried over into the published version where technically possible; there is no promise of this.

10. Data protection

The processing of your data is described in the app's privacy policy at braunetic.de/family/privacy/. It is not part of these terms but informs you.

11. Ending and deleting

  • You can delete your account in the app at any time (Family › Delete My Account; without a family via the account symbol on the setup screen). If you own a family, you transfer ownership beforehand or delete the family. You cancel a subscription separately (section 7).
  • The owner can delete the family at any time; with that, all contents and all members' access to this family end. The members' accounts remain.
  • We can terminate the agreement with a reasonable notice period, and for good cause (in particular in the event of serious violations of section 5) also without notice.
  • Deleted data cannot be restored.

12. Liability and warranty

  • We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
  • In the event of slight negligence, we are liable only for the breach of a material contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the agreement possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the agreement.
  • Your statutory rights as a consumer, in particular the warranty rights for digital products (sections 327 et seq. of the German Civil Code, BGB) and the obligation to provide updates, remain unaffected.
  • You remain responsible for the accuracy of your entries and for backing up important data outside the app, insofar as this is reasonable.

13. Changes to these terms

We can change these terms where this is necessary for objective reasons (for example changes in the law or new functions) and the change does not unreasonably disadvantage you. We show changes in the app at least four weeks before they take effect. If you object, you can delete the account; the rules on consent in consumer contracts remain unaffected.

14. Final provisions

  • German law applies. As a consumer, you additionally enjoy the protection of the mandatory provisions of the state in which you have your habitual residence.
  • We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
  • Should a provision be invalid, the rest remains valid.
